What makes our programme so different?

Leadership Academy Programme

We often get asked what makes our programme different to others.

LAP is different because,

Employees have the benefit of learning away from their place of work, which gives a reflective edge to the programme.

Employees can speak about any difficulties, challenges etc, in a safe and confidential setting.

Employees gain knowledge from delegates and mentors from different sectors, which can help with perspective, expertise, and experience.

Employees have an ongoing network/alumnus to continue to glean information and establish long term relationships with others outside of their place of work.

Learning outside of their place of work means that delegates experience new ways of working, improved approaches to their current work, and develop good practice which they can bring back to work and add value to their organisation.

Whilst other training programmes may not preclude employees with disabilities from taking part, this programme offers a high focus on the differences and opportunities that disability and health conditions bring.

It establishes realistic and tried methods of addressing concerns, fears and reservations, enhances current skills and how to approach and overcome obstacles and identifies ways in which they can improve and have growth, as new leaders in their place of work.

This programme is a great way for companies to complement and add value to existing work on diversity and to ensure that they have disability very much addressed as a part of their good practice.

The training is written and delivered by a trainer and team with lived experience of disability. We do not learn what a delegate cannot do, we consider disability to be a unique advantage and train from the perspective of possibility.

Bespoke Pacakges - Let us work with you to create a bespoke programme, with the content for your organisation.

Disability Rights UK can also tailor the Leadership Academy to create a bespoke programme for a specific group of staff or bolt on modules to an existing leadership programme to meet the requirements of our partners. We have successfully created bespoke programme for The Ministry of Justice, Southampton NHS Trust, Rotherham NHS Trust and Hampshire Council and others and offer a robust disabled leadership package, like no other in the market place.

Due to the expertise and experience of our team, we are able to work with you to create a programme that fits comfortably alongside your Inclusion and diversity Strategy and/or help you to create a disability training programme that addresses your internal inclusion practices and impacts the culture of your business.

Because LAP is one of the projects delivered by a leading disability charity, we offer a more holistic programme, meaning that we are in a strong position to signpost our participant’s to other services and resources, should they require this support, as they develop their career.
