London Underground operates a policy that older and disabled customers can request assistance from station staff on arrival, without needing to book in advance – Turn Up and Go assistance.
They are aware there are times when customers don’t get the assistance they need to travel, and are asking older and disabled people to complete a survey about their experiences of Tube staff assistance.

New Scottish Independent Living Fund from 2015

Scotland announces multi-million pound fund to help disabled people to stay in their own homes.
The proposed new Scottish Independent Living Fund (SILF) is intended to safe-guard the support given to more than 3,000 disabled people across Scotland who are currently receiving help under the Independent Living Fund (ILF) Scheme. In addition the new scheme will also be open to new applicants.
The current ILF is due to close in June 2015 and has been closed to new users since 2010.
