    London Overground has launched a new 'Turn Up and Go' service for disabled customers

    'Turn up and Go' service means that disabled people needing assistance can simply arrive at stations and have staff help them without being asked to book in advance. The 'Turn up and Go' service is already in place on London Underground.

  • Rail replacement services shunted back for disabled passengers

    The Minister of State for Transport Chris Heaton-Harris has written to the Rail Delivery Group extending the period of non-accessibility compliance for buses and coaches performing rail replacement duties.

    Train companies have been granted an extension until the end of April, providing that they:

    - Source and use compliant vehicles wherever possible in the first instance

    - Only use non-complaint vehicles that have been granted a special authorisation when other options have been exhausted.

    The Law Commission is drawing up a legal framework for self-driving vehicles, and has said that: “Systems may not have been trained to deal with the full variety of wheelchairs and mobility scooters.”
