All-Party Parliamentary Group for Disability

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Disability. Strengthening the links between parliament and the disability sector.

About the APPG

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Disability is a cross-party group of members of parliament from both the commons and the lords. Focusing on the issues that affect all disabled people regardless of their disability, impairment, or health condition. Founded in 1969 it has since become one of the largest and most active All Party Groups.

The APPG for Disability calls on the experience and expertise of the disabled community to take leadership and control in developing policy: across society, organisations, and exercising choice in every aspect of our own lives.

The APPG for Disability provides a valuable opportunity for parliamentarians to engage with individuals and organisations outside parliament who share an interest in disability related issues.

Disability Rights UK provides the Secretariat to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Disability

We are disabled people leading change. Over 90% of our board members and many of our colleagues identify as disabled people. We work with over 1000 members (both organisations around the UK and individuals), policy makers, journalists, businesses, and government - to include disabled people at the forefront of policy development and decision-making.

When disabled people participate everyone benefits.

Disability Rights UK works to create a society where everyone with lived experience of disability, health condition, or impairment, can participate fully as equal citizens. We view participation in all areas of society and life as a fundamental right.

The role of Secretariat is provided by Sue Bott, Head of of Policy and Research, with Secretariat support from Anna Denham - email appgsecretariat@disabilityrightsuk.org
