Free Training for DPOs: Using Strategic Litigation to Fight for Inclusive Education

News

Curious about the power of strategic litigation for Disabled People’s Rights in the UK? The Alliance for Inclusive Education (ALLFIE), in partnership with Systemic Justice, is offering a free online training series on strategic litigation. Designed for Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs), activists, and allies, this six-part series explores how the courts can be used to challenge discrimination and secure systemic change for inclusive education.

Why Strategic Litigation Matters
Strategic litigation is a powerful tool that goes beyond winning individual cases. When used right, litigation cases brings movements together and creates lasting societal change by setting legal precedents, influencing policy, and amplifying grassroots messages. From challenging school exclusions to enforcing reasonable adjustments, the courts can be a critical ally in the fight for truly inclusive mainstream education.

What’s Covered?

Running from July to September 2025, the 45-minute virtual (Zoom) sessions include:

  • 16 July: How courts can enforce rights—from reasonable adjustments to mainstream access.

  • 23 July: Who can take action? Exploring group lawsuits, parent-led cases, and more.

  • 24 Sept: Practical steps to build your own litigation strategy.

Expert Speakers
Led by Jonathan McCully (Systemic Justice) and Nani Jansen Reventlow (award-winning human rights lawyer), the training combines legal expertise with real-world campaigning insights.
