Read report

Disability Rights UK gave evidence to the select committee and have informed this report.

The House of Lords inquiry was led by Lord Blunkett and the report makes particular recommendations to Government which link back to the evidence that Disability Rights UK gave. These include:

  • the establishment of an Access to Volunteering fund to sit alongside the Access to Work Fund
  • restoring the Access to Elected Office fund to cover the cost of reasonable adjustments for disabled candidates for public office
  • the refurbishment of parliament to create improved accessibility for staff, parliamentarians and visitors
  • the use of the Social Value Act to drive public engagement by those delivering public contracts.

We await the Governments response which is expected later this year.
