Disability Rights UK ambassador Stephen Brookes has been awarded the No2H8 Crime champion award.

Stephen celebrates winning No2H8 crime champion award

He received this award at a TellMAMA dinner event held on Tuesday 10 October 2017.

On receiving the award, Stephen said:

“In my role as an Ambassador for Disability Rights UK any work I do, and we as an organisation do, must ensure that disabled people feel safe and not under any form of threat from people who see us as 'in the way' .

My clear and unambiguous comment has to be that we must report any matters of hostility and keep the pressure on bodies such as the police and CPS to take action and prosecute hate offences.”

In addition to being a DR UK ambassador Stephen also runs the Disability Hate Crime Network and is a key contributor to our reporting hate crime resources
