Staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital, central London created an exact plastic replica of seven-year-old Katie Parke’s trachea

By practising on this replica they were able to improve the speed and safety of her surgery.

3D printing in action - Doctors print 3D trachea

Disability Rights UK, the University of Salford, and the University of Dundee are working together to explore the possibilities of digital fabrication. The project is titled 'In the Making', and will involve disabled people in developing commercial, social and creative benefits from new digital fabrication technology.
