Government responds to the Department of Health consultation: ‘No Voice Unheard, No Rights Ignored’ concerning services to people with learning disabilities, autism or mental health conditions

In our response to the consultation we argued that people of all impairments and long-term health conditions should be treated equally and in accordance with the UK’s obligations enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.  There should be an expectation of no institutions and we should see a reduction in the number of institutions year on year.  We also challenge the increasing use of coercion and call for this trend to be reversed.

The Government has now responded to this consultation.
