Temporary accommodation and universal credit
‘Temporary accommodation’ is accommodation where:
- you pay rent to a local authority (or other provider of social housing); and
- they have provided you with the accommodation because you are homeless (or to prevent you becoming homeless).
Such accommodation will continue to be met through housing benefit, rather than universal credit.
