Doing Transport Differently

Product display image:

Doing Transport Differently is a guide written by and for people with lived experience of a disability or health condition who would like to access public transport.

Over the last 20 years, transport has become more accessible; from low-floor wheelchair access in buses, to the training of transport staff. Today many people with disabilities can travel more independently, but a fifth still experience difficulties related to their impairment or disability in accessing transport.

“During the last two decades much of the public transport in the UK has become accessible to disabled people although there remains much to do.” Sir Bert Massie CBE

‘Doing Transport Differently’ aims to give people key information about accessing public transport. It covers the benefits of using public transport. It also explains what kind of access is out there, how you can plan your journeys and what to do if things go wrong. It is full of real experiences of using trains, buses, coaches, undergrounds, light railways, ferries and more.
