Sign the Access All Areas Guide Dogs petition

14 March 2018

When surveyed, 42% of assistance dog owners were turned away by a taxi or minicab in the last year because of their dog. This is against the law.

Disability equality training for all taxi and minicab drivers will help them understand the rights and needs of disabled people and will help to reduce the number of guide dog owners who are turned away.

"42% of assistance dog owners were turned away by a taxi or minicab in the last year because of their dog. We call on the UK Government to make disability equality training a requirement for all taxi and minicab drivers to help them understand the rights and needs of disabled people."

A note for campaigners in Scotland and Northern Ireland

The Scottish Government is taking steps towards taxi and minicab accessibility training as part of Scotland’s Accessible Travel Framework. In Northern Ireland taxi and minicab drivers are already required to undertake disability training.

f you live in these countries, you can still sign the petition or email campaigns@guidedogs.org.uk to find out more.
