Almost 20,000 people still receiving 15 minute personal care visits

At least 18,875 people received personal care visits of fifteen minutes or less for support with intimate care, based on data from councils that admitted the degrading practice in their area.

The figure is likely to be even higher as many local authorities would not supply data following freedom of information requests by Leonard Cheshire, a leading disability charity. 

Leonard Cheshire says:

“Flying visits in England continue despite statutory guidance within the Care Act 2014, which came into force in April 2015 stating: “short home-care visits of fifteen minutes or less are not appropriate for people who need support with intimate care needs.”
