Deaf and Disabled people’s organisations (DDPOs) tell the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Geneva that the Government has ignored many of the questions put to it earlier this year by the UN team.

The timetable of sessions

Closed sessions were previously held with disabled people on Monday 21 August.

First day - 23rd August 2pm-5pm BST (3pm-6pm Swiss time)

Opening remarks by the Head of the Delegation

The Head of the Delegation has 15 to 20 minutes for his/her opening remarks. Please kindly send an electronic version of the opening remarks on the day before the dialogue.

Rapporteur’s opening remarks

After the opening remarks of the Head of the Delegation the Committee’s country rapporteur(s) will have up to 5 minutes for her/his opening remarks.

First cluster of questions

Committee members will raise questions and make comments regarding the first cluster of articles of the Convention. (From article 1 to 10)

Replies by the delegation

The delegation has the opportunity to provide answers to the first cluster of questions for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Second cluster of questions

Committee members will raise questions and make comments regarding the first cluster of articles of the Convention. (From article 11 to 20).

The dialogue between the Committee takes place at Room XVII, Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland. (Approximate times are included where possible.)

Second day - 24th August 9am-12 noon BST (10pm-1pm Swiss time)

Replies by the delegation

The delegation has the opportunity to provide answers to the second cluster of questions.

Third cluster of questions

Committee members will raise questions regarding articles 21 to 33 of the Convention. (From articles 21 to 33)

Replies by the delegation

The delegation will have the opportunity to reply to the last cluster of questions.

Concluding remarks

The Head of the Delegation will be requested by the Chair to make concluding remarks. (5 minutes)

Rapporteur’s concluding remarks

Depending on the availability of time, the country rapporteur will make concluding remarks. (3 minutes)

Closing by the Chair

The Chair will close and adjourn the meeting.
