MPs debate and rejectamendments made by the House of Lords to the Welfare Reform and Work Bill on Tuesday 23 February 2016.
The House of Commons has rejected DR UK ambassador Lord Low's amendment 41 to remove clause 13 from the Welfare Reform and Work Bill.
Clause 13 proposed the removal of the work-related activity group component from Employment and Support Allowance, worth £30 to claimants. It was defeated by 306 to 279 - a majority of 27
Another amendment , introduced by Lord Low, protecting limited capability for work payments within Universal Credit was also rejected by 304 to 280 - a majority of 24.
DR UK CEO Liz Sayce says that it is deeply depressing that the Commons have overturned overturned lords vote on the ESA cut.
DR UK would like to say thanks to everyone who's campaigned against this deeply unfair cut.
What happens next?
The Bill will go back to the Lords on Monday 29 February for their response. They must decide if they will restore/change the amendments and whether to send the Bill back to the Commons - ping pong.
