Personal Independence Payment Advisor Training Course - December 2019

This course examines the structure of PIP and the assessment process. It enables participants to identify potential entitlement and help claimants make the most effective applications. It is for staff working with working age people who are affected by a health condition or a disability. No previous experience is required although a working knowledge of the wider benefits system is helpful.

Course objectives

By the end of the course you will:

  • Understand the eligibility conditions for PIP;
  • Know how Disability Living Allowance claimants are affected by PIP;
  • Have studied and feel confident with the disability criteria;
  • Understand the assessment process;
  • Be able to confidently complete the assessment form and help people prepare for a medical assessment;
  • Be able to initiate appeals and give basic advice on the appeals process;
  • Have an awareness of how PIP affects other benefits;
