The Get Yourself Active project is gaining countrywide support from a number of interested partners through the successful first meeting of the new national steering group

The project aims to create and develop opportunities for people to use their personal budgets to access physical activity and sport.

The first meeting took place on 23rd April and brought together professionals from a range of organisations and disciplines including independent consultants specialising in disability rights, sports organisations and health and social care organisations. See below for a list of the organisations involved;

Sport England

SENDirect

Ossie Stuart

Association for Directors of Children’s Services

Community Catalysts

English Federation for Disability Sport

Local Government Association

CSP Network

Together UK

Disability Rights UK

Sports Coach UK

Skills for Care

OPM

Proudlock Associates

At the first meeting we discovered what group members are able to offer and what they wanted to get out of being involved. Each member has something different to bring to the steering group and the diversity in knowledge, experience and skills will be invaluable.

The steering group will be meeting three times a year for the duration of the project. Members will share relevant policy and research relating to the project and promote it amongst their own networks. We are looking forward to working with our members to ensure the success of Get Yourself Active!
