Scotland announces multi-million pound fund to help disabled people to stay in their own homes.

The proposed new Scottish Independent Living Fund (SILF) is intended to safe-guard the support given to more than 3,000 disabled people across Scotland who are currently receiving help under the Independent Living Fund (ILF) Scheme. In addition the new scheme will also be open to new applicants.

The current ILF is due to close in June 2015 and has been closed to new users since 2010.

The new scheme will be a national system, from July 2015, which will be run by the third sector. Anyone eligible for help will be referred to the fund via local authority social services.
